What is the VA Aid and Attendance Benefit ? The Veterans Administration offers Aid and Attendance allows for Veterans and surviving spouses who require the regular attendance of another person to assist in eating, bathing, dressing, undressing, medication dosing, or toileting to receive monetary benefits to help pay for these services. This is a pension benefit and is not dependent upon service related injuries for compensation.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Age 65 or older, if under 65, permanently and totally disabled
  • Must have served 90 days of active military service with at least 1 day being during a war time period
  • Honorable discharge
  • Non-service related medical conditions
  • Meet asset requirements – there is no exact limit, it varies by client and many factors
  • Meet medical expense to income requirements
  • Need regular assistance with activities of daily living
